Welcome to the new Nielsen 56 trawler yacht
The Nielsen 56 is a new long keel, wooden hulled, ketch rigged motor sailing vessel, offering
the classic beauty of traditional boats combined with the refinements and comfort of modern
cruising.
It's the first model in a range of new trawler yachts, or motor sailors, that will be custom
built by T. Nielsen & Company at their renowned boatyard in Gloucester Docks. They are
one of the UK’s leading shipwrights and traditional boat builders who have an unrivalled
expertise in restoring classic boats and tall ships.
The inspiration for the Nielsen 56 range came from the restoration of a traditional
fishing trawler yacht, now named Big Saba*. The classic lines which made the
boat so hardy in tough sea conditions were retained, whilst the interior was
extensively remodelled for contemporary family sailing.
With a fully enclosed deckhouse, offering 360 degree visibility, sailing the Nielsen 56
in even the wettest conditions is comfortable, while the large external deck area makes relaxing
in fine weather a joy.
Inside the deckhouse there is a saloon with ample space for six people to dine and relax
in comfort. Below decks, the accommodation is spacious. A double master cabin with en suite,
a twin cabin, two single cabins and a shower room and toilet, all finished to the highest
specifications.
Although the standard specification provides sumptuous comfort and excellent sea going
performance, both under sail and power, there's a real opportunity for each Nielsen 56 owner
to tailor the boat precisely to their own taste and desires.
Under sail, the Nielsen 56 will make good headway in light winds, but has the design heritage
to cope comfortably with ocean passages. Under power, the Perkins M225TI makes short work
of the longest voyages.
Hand crafted entirely from selected timber, the Nielsen 56 makes full use of
the benefits of building in wood with its strength, flexibility and sheer beauty,
creating a boat that simply stands head and shoulders above the humdrum vessels
found in most marinas.
And with today’s boat building practices and marine timber treatments, maintenance
of your Nielsen 56 will be simple and surprisingly economical. Yet your boat will outlast
most of its contemporaries and become a true classic yacht of the future with investment
potential.
Priced very competitively from circa £750,000 to £1,200,000 depending on specification
and options, the Nielsen 56 represents a unique opportunity for discerning owners to create
a boat in which they will enjoy more days actually out on the water, and which is certain
to become a much loved favourite.
Please contact us today to take the first step towards creating a unique sailing and cruising
experience with your very own Nielsen 56.
