T. Nielsen has worked on numerous productions over the years, providing everything from realistic models to full-scale ship conversions and set construction to historically correct rigging.
We bring to every project our vast knowledge of traditional and modern shipbuilding, along with highly skilled craftsmen and technicians who know and understand the complexities of the film and television industries.

HAKON HAKONSEN 'Shipwrecked'

1492: CONQUEST OF PARADISE
Project: After considerable research we converted two vessels to represent those sailed by Columbus in the fifteenth century. Superstructures were built upon the existing hulls, and then sailed to Costa Rica and back - a 14,000 mile round trip. The project was urgent and completed in 12 weeks, involved 10,000 man hours, installing a new engine, a complete set of spars, rigging and ironwork.
CUTTHROAT ISLAND

Project: An Indonesian cargo vessel was converted to represent a Pirate Galleon which involved setting up a temporary shipyard in Borneo using local labour alongside our own team. We stripped the original ship and added two further decks to create a Man O'War. The masts, standing rigging and fittings were manufactured in Gloucester and then shipped to Singapore to meet the ship and our riggers.
